What You're Actually Doing at 9pm

It's 9pm. Dinner's cleaned up, the house is quiet, and you open your laptop on the couch "just for a minute."

You're not behind because you're disorganized. You saw patients all day, and the rest of the practice still needed running. So it runs after hours.

Confirming tomorrow's appointments. Answering the three patients who emailed questions. Sending invoices. Replying to a booking request. Updating the waitlist. Following up on a referral.

Almost none of this needs you. It needs someone. There's a difference.

Here's what I usually take off a client's plate first:

Your inbox. Most of what lands there can be answered, sorted, or scheduled by someone else. You only see what needs your clinical judgement.

Your scheduling. Bookings, reschedules, cancellations, confirmations. This is the one that interrupts you most.

Your follow up. Check ins after appointments, rebooking reminders, the resources you promised to send.

You've been doing all of this well. That's not the problem. The problem is that it's happening at 9pm, and it's coming out of the rest you need to show up for your patients tomorrow.

If you're reading this on the couch tonight, reply and tell me what's on your list. I'll tell you which pieces I'd take first.
