Are You Waiting Too Long to Hire Administrative Support? 5 Signs It's Time
Change doesn’t happen until the pain of the present is greater than the pain of the unknown!
This is something my Mom loves to say! It is just so human, and so true.
And very relevant to the moment most practitioners chose to hire administrative support.
It is common to wait until there is no other option: a missed follow-up, a burnt-out week, a patient who fell through the cracks.
But if I could wave my magic wand here's what I'd rather you do instead!
Check the signs before it gets to that point.
You're spending more time managing your practice than being present in it. Charting, inbox, scheduling, labs. It's eating into the hours you meant to spend with patients, or worse, your personal time.
You've said "I'll deal with it this weekend" more than once this month. That sentence is a signal, not a plan. Work that gets pushed to the weekend doesn't get smaller. It just gets later.
You're the only person who knows how your practice actually runs. If you took a week off right now, would anything move without you? If the honest answer is no, that's not a compliment to your work ethic. That's a risk.
Something has already slipped. A late reply. A missed rebooking. A lab result that sat longer than it should have. And I’m not talking human slips (we all have those), I’m talking avoidable if you weren’t stretched so thin mistakes.
You've thought about hiring help more than once. If it's crossed your mind more than a couple of times, that's usually not random. That's your practice telling you something your schedule can't say out loud.
If two or more of these are true right now, you don't need to wait for a bigger sign. You're already at the point where support would help.
If you'd like to talk it through, book a consult and let's look at where your practice actually stands! I'm here to help.
