Before the end of year rush starts, take 30 minutes to look back on 2026.
Not a big strategic planning session. Just three questions, answered honestly.
What worked? The systems, habits, or changes that made your practice run better this year. Keep those.
What drained you? The tasks you dreaded, put off, or did at 9pm. Be specific. "Admin" isn't an answer. "Answering booking emails between patients" is.
What do you want to feel different in January? Not a list of goals. One or two things that would change how your week feels.
When I start working with a practitioner, and I asked them “what drains you?” It is almost never clinical. It's the inbox, the scheduling, the billing, the follow up. The work around the work.
That list is usually the clearest answer to question three.
And here’s my hot take: Those tasks don't need to be done better next year (you’re doing great!). They need to be done by someone else.
Start January with them already handed off, and your attention goes where it belongs: on your patients.
Set a timer this week and try it. Then reply with your "what drained you" list. I read every one, and I'll tell you which pieces could be off your plate before the new year.
